In a direct raid on the Kalakot area, Jibran, the son of the late gang lord Rehman Dakait was arrested by police in Lyari. Police seized illegal arms and bullets that belonged to him. Jibran is a hardcore criminal who has a prior record of criminal activities and on his capture, he is charged under the Sindh Arms Act.
Police apprehended Jibran, the son of the infamous Abdul Rehman Baloch, better known as Rehman Dakait. Law enforcement acted on precise intelligence to intercept a man they describe as a habitual threat to Karachi’s peace.
The raid was carried out by the Kalakot police on Monday. They also found Jibran in possession of illegal guns and live ammunition. Immediately, officers registered a new case on him. This arrest aims at the very core of the Dakait legacy. Police want to avoid a revival of the old dynamics of the war of new gangs in Lyari.
Jibran is no stranger to a jail cell. He has faced numerous charges over the years, including drug trafficking, explosives possession, and kidnapping for ransom. He walked free on bail in June 2022. However, investigators claim he didn’t stay clean. Instead, he allegedly began reorganizing criminal elements in the neighborhood.
The “Dakait” name still carries weight in Lyari’s narrow streets. Jibran’s brother, Sarban, died in a police encounter in 2024. Just last month, police arrested their cousin, Haris Baloch. This latest move by the Karachi Police signals a zero-tolerance policy toward the remnants of the old gangs. They want to ensure the violence of the 2000s stays in the past.
