In a decisive move against tax evasion, the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) has sealed the premises of two prominent businesses in Karachi. The establishments in question are Sajjad Restaurant, situated at Do Darya, and Dawat, an event management company located in Khayaban-e-Bukhari, Phase VI, DHA.
The SRB’s action comes in response to consistent non-compliance with the provisions of the Sindh Sales Tax on Services Act, 2011. Both entities were found to have under-declared their sales, leading to evasion of Sindh Sales Tax (SST). Furthermore, they failed to file the prescribed tax return despite multiple advisories and notices from the SRB.
In the case of Sajjad Restaurant, the SRB noted an additional violation. The restaurant had not integrated its Point of Sales (POS) with the SRB POS invoicing system as per the prescribed rules.
The SRB has affirmed its commitment to ensuring tax compliance across all sectors. It will continue to take similar measures to prevent any loss of public revenue due to non-compliance or tax evasion by any service provider in Sindh.
