In honor of the 10th anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) set to issue a special commemorative coin with a face value of Rs. 100. Scheduled for release on August 11, 2023, the coin will made available through SBP Banking Services Corporation exchange counters.
The commemorative coin, designed to acknowledge the substantial contributions of CPEC to Pakistan’s infrastructure and economic progress since its inception in 2013, bears several distinctive features. It is round in shape with serrations on the edge, boasting a diameter of 30.00 mm and a weight of 13.5 grams. Crafted from Cupro-Nickel metal, the coin is an exquisite representation of the enduring partnership between the two nations.
On its obverse side, a meticulously crafted five-pointed star takes center stage. Symbolizing unity and cooperation, the star incorporates elements from both Pakistan’s and China’s national flags. The crescent moon and star from Pakistan’s flag, as well as a group of five stars from China’s flag, adorn the artistic star on the right and left sides respectively. The English inscription “CELEBRATING 10 YEARS OF CPEC” and the Urdu script “ISLAMI JAMHURIA PAKISTAN” grace the top and bottom periphery of the coin, embellished by two stars on either side.
