In response to the escalating smog crisis, authorities in the province are implementing decisive measures to safeguard public health. The interim government, led by Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, has announced the temporary closure of schools and educational institutions, aiming to shield students from the hazardous air pollution levels.
The move, declared during a Cabinet Committee meeting on anti-smog, underscores the severity of the situation. Interim Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the need to prioritize children’s health, declaring that schools will remain closed on Saturdays throughout the province.
Business and Markets to Remain Open
While students take an unplanned break from classes, businesses, markets, and restaurants are set to continue operating as per their regular schedules. This strategic decision aims to strike a balance between safeguarding public health and maintaining economic activities.
Additionally, Chief Minister Naqvi has issued directives for a robust crackdown on vehicles emitting harmful smoke. This stringent action aligns with the government’s commitment to taking extreme measures to curb air pollution, ensuring that the Air Quality Index (AQI) remains at acceptable levels.
