Pakistan Muslim League-N leader and former Prime Minister, Shahbaz Sharif, has called upon the business community to warmly welcome his elder brother and party chief, Nawaz Sharif, upon his imminent return on October 21.
Addressing a gathering of traders in Lahore, Shahbaz Sharif stressed that the nation’s prosperity, economic independence, and the eradication of unemployment hinge on the warm reception of Nawaz Sharif. He added that Pakistan poised to continue its journey towards progress from where it left off in 2018, emphasizing the significance of Nawaz Sharif’s return for the country’s development.
Sharif underlined the PML-N’s role in safeguarding the state during its coalition government and emphasized that this driven by a genuine concern for the nation’s well-being, rather than political motives. He asserted that preserving the state was crucial to maintaining the essence of politics in the country.
Shahbaz Sharif called for unity and solidarity among the nation, highlighting the scheduled return of Nawaz Sharif on October 21. He urged Nawaz Sharif’s supporters to welcome him with a massive rally, as he believes Nawaz Sharif holds the potential to reshape the nation’s destiny.
Reflecting on Pakistan’s history, Sharif recalled pivotal moments such as the dismissal of Nawaz Sharif’s government through martial law and Pakistan’s historic nuclear tests on May 28, 1998. He noted Prime Minister Vajpayee’s emotional sentiments during this period. He emphasized Nawaz Sharif’s role in Pakistan’s nuclear achievements, highlighting that Pakistan became the first Islamic country to acquire nuclear power during his leadership.
Shahbaz Sharif also acknowledged the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s forefathers in building the nation. He discussed the progress achieved during Nawaz Sharif’s tenure, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which attracted $30 billion in investment. He credited Nawaz Sharif’s leadership for the successful completion of key development projects, such as the Metro project, Orange Line, and Ring Road.
