Shahzada Dawood’s Wife Speaks Out About Her Husband and Son’s Death in Titan Submersible

Christine Dawood, the wife of Shahzada Dawood, has opened up about her husband and son, Suleman, who lost their lives in a tragic submarine accident last week. The father and son were among the five passengers who died when their submersible imploded during a dive into the Titanic wreck in the North Atlantic.

In an emotional interview with BBC, Ms. Dawood spoke about her husband’s and son’s personalities, interests, and passions. She also revealed how she and her teenage daughter, who was on board the vessel from which the submersible launched, witnessed the horror of losing communication with the submersible.

Mrs. Dawood said he was a visionary who started many “amazing projects” that she and her daughter would continue as part of his legacy.

She also remembered her son Suleman’s love for solving the Rubik’s Cube, which he always carried with him. She said he had solved the cube in 12 seconds, which was his personal best, and wanted to set a record by solving it at the deepest depth. He was very excited about the dive into the Titanic.

Ms. Dawood further told that she and her daughter were hopeful that the submersible would resurface after losing contact, but they lost hope after 96 hours, as the submersible had oxygen for only four days. She said she sent a message to her family that she was preparing for the worst.

Ms. Dawood said she and her daughter were coping with grief and trying to find closure. She also said they would try to learn to solve the Rubik’s Cube in Suleman’s honor.

The Dawood family has also announced that a virtual prayer for the deceased will held today (Tuesday) at 6:30 pm and broadcast live on The Dawood Foundation’s YouTube channel. The family has requested people to join and pray for the deceased.
