Sindh Government Extends Motorcycle Fuel Subsidy Program Till May 2026

The Chief Minister of Sindh has decided to extend the People’s Motorcycle Fuel Subsidy Programme as part of public relief measures, pushing its deadline to May 31, 2026.

According to details, an important meeting of the Sindh Cabinet was held at the CM House in Karachi under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister of Sindh, where several key decisions were made.

The meeting reviewed the progress of the Sindh Development and Maintenance of Infrastructure Cess Amendment Act 2026. The Chief Minister directed that long-pending legal disputes should be resolved as soon as possible.

The cabinet was briefed that 132 applicants have already signed settlement agreements, while bank guarantees worth over Rs 18 billion have been cashed.

The cabinet approved extending the deadline for withdrawal of cases and settlements to August 23, 2026. It was also decided that outstanding payments will be made in installments, with 15% payments scheduled for July and October 2026 and July 2027, while the remaining amount will be paid in quarterly installments from 2028. A discount rate of 0.80% was also approved for early payments.

Under public relief measures, the cabinet approved the extension of the People’s Motorcycle Fuel Subsidy Programme until May 31, 2026. The Chief Minister also directed the release of Rs 2 billion for the month of May.

Officials informed that more than 548,000 people are currently benefiting from the subsidy, and so far, Rs 1.096 billion has been distributed.

Additionally, a major reduction in sales tax for motorcycle cab services was announced, with the rate cut from 5% to 2%. Authorities said the decision is expected to have an annual financial impact of Rs 120 million and will significantly benefit online drivers.
