Sindh Pink Taxi Scheme 2026: Check Eligibility, Registration Process & Latest Updates

The Sindh government has announced the launch of a Pink Taxi Scheme for women, expanding its efforts to improve safe and independent transportation for female commuters across the province.

The Pink Taxi Scheme will be launched under the forthcoming Electric Vehicle (EV) Taxi Scheme in Sindh as announced by Information Minister, Sharjeel Inam Memon at a meeting held at Sindh Assembly on the subject.

“The EV Taxi Scheme will include the Pink Taxi component, and the people of Sindh will soon receive good news regarding the project,” Memon said.

Pink Taxi Scheme to Strengthen Women’s Mobility

The minister said that the Pink Taxi Scheme is another significant initiative towards women empowerment, following the successful implementation of the government’s Pink Scooty scheme.

The provincial government is dedicated to providing women with safe and affordable transportation and to increasing their independence in daily travel,” he said.

Action Against Men Using Pink Scooties

Complaints about the misuse of Pink Scooties by male family members were also highlighted by Sharjeel Inam Memon.

The traffic authorities have been told to act if men are seen on the scooters that have been set aside for women, he said.

“We have received complaints that women’s brothers are riding the Pink Scooties. Necessary instructions have already been issued to the traffic police,” he said.

Pink Scooty Scheme Sees Massive Growth

Memon replied to criticism that the scale of the Pink Scooty programme was too large and cited its swift success.

When the programme was launched, the minister said, there were only 150 women who could drive. There has been increased participation since then, with almost 25,000 women coming forward for driving licences.

He described the programme as a “revolution” for Sindh and the government is ready to take the programme ahead, he added.

He further added, “If 100,000 women get driving licences, we have to give them scooties.

Sindh Promotes Electric Vehicles

Memon also pointed out that Sindh has become the first province of Pakistan to launch electric buses and this new EV Taxi Scheme will further develop environmentally friendly transportation and provide new jobs in Islamabad.

Sindh Revenue Board Outperforms FBR

The minister in his speech also emphasised the province’s tax collection performance.

He said the Sindh Revenue Board (SBR) reported 24 per cent growth while the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reported 10 per cent growth.

The Sindh government believes its economic reforms and public service initiatives are helping improve governance while supporting sustainable development across the province.
