In a significant move, the government of Punjab has entrusted the Karachi-based Sky Wings Company with the responsibility of modernizing its Air Ambulance Service. The decision, which came into effect on April 1, saw Sky Wings outshine two other contenders to clinch the coveted contract.
The company is set to introduce two ‘Piper’ aircraft into the service, sourced from South Africa and the United States. The procurement of these modern planes marks a new chapter in Punjab’s emergency medical services, ensuring rapid response times and efficient operations.
Preparations are already underway, with staff training sessions being conducted to guarantee smooth operations once the service is launched. Interestingly, Sky Wings is no stranger to the field of air ambulance services, having previously collaborated with Edhi’s Air Ambulance Service in Sindh.
This partnership between the Punjab government and Sky Wings is expected to significantly enhance the region’s emergency medical response capabilities, marking a new era in healthcare accessibility.
