An executive jet leasing was issued as a tender by the Punjabi government. The bid deadline was set for 3 PM on December 30 after the tender was issued on December 15th. The offer was released two days after Mohsin Leghari, the finance minister for Punjab, declared that the federal government had refused to provide the government of Punjab its lawful Rs 176.4 billion.
The super mid-sized executive jet, which can hold eight to ten passengers at once, is described in the contract as being no older than 2016, according to the tender. Additionally, the plane is to deploy with a full aircrew. The Punjab government would rent the plane for a total of three months, or fifty hours.
The Punjabi government will also pay for the expenditures of people and fuel in addition to the rental. The provincial administration has set a pricing range for mid-size aircraft between $3,000 and $4,000.
The tender’s timing is problematic since the Government has just implemented the Public Finance Management Act (2022) to enhance its financial policy and expand its fiscal space, as well as criticized the Centre for withholding cash.
The 31st of December has been designated as the deadline for proposal submission. According to the announcement, bidders must adhere to Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority regulations (PCCA). It would take a year and a half to buy a new aircraft since the Punjab government’s current official jet cannot fly.
To maintain “financial discipline,” the Punjab Finance Department declared last month on November 18 that it will implement austerity measures. The province’s ability to do business and the amount of money it could allocate for personal needs were both severely constrained by the austerity measures.
