The Government To Make New Balakot A Tourist Destination

Prime Minister Imran Khan presided over the meeting regarding the development of new Balakot city as a tourist destination.

The government wants to build new tourist resorts in the hilly areas to promote tourism in the country, said PM.

To this end, leading private investors in the tourism and hospitality sectors are attract to the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.

PM directed the concerned federal and provincial authorities to take all necessary steps to facilitate the private investors in this regard.

He further directed the KP government to complete the entire project from ERRA to make it a tourist destination. Land of irrigation should be exclude from the project to ensure food security in the region.

PM informed that the development of New Balakot City was primarily the responsibility of the KP provincial government rather than the federal government. The KP government has already acquired land for the tourist resort that will include a youth hostel, theme park, camping ground and 3-star hotel.

Once completed, the project will ease the pressure on existing overloaded tourist destinations. It would also boost earning more than Rs. 7 billion as a result of projected revenue sharing with the government.
