On Wednesday night, near the Gambat Railway Station in Khairpur, the business class train bound for Lahore from Karachi, known as the Karachi Express, faced a devastating fire that engulfed all 17 of its bogies. The fire resulted in chaos as passengers attempted to evacuate the burning train by jumping off.
Railway personnel attempted to put out a fire on a train and requested assistance from the fire department, but as of the time of this report, no firefighters had arrived on the scene. Despite some passengers jumping off the train to evade danger, others were reportedly trapped in the damaged compartments, prompting concerns about fatalities. Nevertheless, the reason for the fire remains uncertain.
According to officials from the railway department, the affected cabin has been separated from the rest of the compartments.
The rescue operation has now concluded, and the fire has been successfully extinguished. Sadly, the authorities have reported that two individuals lost their lives in the incident. One of the victims was a woman who attempted to escape the flames by jumping from the train but tragically perished during the attempt.
