University of Karachi Awards Honorary PhD to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi

In a recent development, the University of Karachi has decided to confer an honorary doctorate to Dr. Syed Ebrahim Raisi, the incumbent President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The decision was taken in a special syndicate meeting held on Sunday.

The honorary degree, a Doctor of Philosophy in Islamic Studies, is a recognition of Dr. Raisi’s contributions and leadership. The recommendation for this honor came from Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori, the Chancellor of government universities in Sindh and the Governor of Sindh.

Upon receiving the formal recommendation letter from the Governor, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Karachi, Professor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, convened a special meeting of the syndicate. The syndicate unanimously approved the decision to award the honorary degree to the Iranian President.

This move by the University of Karachi underscores the academic ties between Pakistan and Iran, and is expected to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two nations.
