Weather Forecast: Westerly Wave to Bring Rain and Thunder to Karachi, Hyderabad

Karachi, Hyderabad, and other parts of Sindh are gearing up for a spell of rain/thunderstorms this Thursday and Friday. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has reported a westerly wave currently over the western regions of Pakistan, expected to engulf most upper/central parts by Friday.

As we move into Thursday and Friday, the forecast suggests partly cloudy weather for most districts. However, cities including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Larkana, Dadu, Qamber Shahdad Kot, and Jamshoro should brace for dust-raising/rain-wind/thunderstorms.

These windstorms and lightning could potentially impact human life, standing crops, and loose structures like electric poles and solar panels. Farmers are urged to manage their crops in accordance with the weather conditions. A drop in temperatures is anticipated during this wet spell.

Karachi’s maximum temperatures are projected to hover between 36-38 degrees Celsius on Thursday, dropping slightly to 35-37 C on Friday. Hyderabad’s maximum temperatures are expected to remain between 40-42 C on Thursday and 39-41 C on Friday.

In the past 24 hours, hot and dry weather has prevailed in the port city, Hyderabad, and most districts of Sindh. Nawabshah recorded the highest temperature in the province at 42 C, with a relative humidity of 72% in the evening. Karachi and Hyderabad recorded maximum temperatures of 36 C and 40 C respectively, with relative humidity levels of 77% and 72% during the evening.
