Meta Launches First Camera-Free Ray-Ban AI Glasses and Other Models

Meta has unveiled new AI glasses at Meta Connect 2026. The lineup includes Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3, camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio and Meta VR Glasses. The company also announced new features for its existing display glasses.

Meta has expanded its AI glasses lineup at Meta Connect 2026 with new devices and software features. The company has also brought its Muse AI assistant to its glasses.

The new lineup includes the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3, Ray-Ban Meta Audio and Meta VR Glasses. The Ray-Ban Meta Audio is Meta’s first camera-free AI glasses. The other two products have cameras for different functions.

Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 Gets Camera and Battery Upgrades

The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 comes with a 12MP camera that can record 3K Ultra HD video. It has a six-microphone system and offers up to 9 hours of battery life.

Meta is offering the glasses in three styles: Wayfarer, Aviator and Zena. The glasses also have adjustable temple tips and a new action button for quick access to Meta AI.

The Gen 3 starts at $449 and is available from Meta.

Meta also announced Dolby Atmos capture for its AI glasses. The feature will allow users to record video with spatial audio later this year.

Ray-Ban Meta Audio Removes the Camera

The Ray-Ban Meta Audio is designed without a camera. It combines open-ear audio with Meta AI.

The glasses weigh 43 grams and offer up to 12 hours of battery life. The charging case can provide up to another 48 hours, according to Meta.

They come in Clubmaster and Burbank styles with 23 colour and lens combinations. Pre-orders start at $349. Meta says shipping will begin on October 13.

The camera-free design removes the ability to record photos and videos. Users can still listen to music and podcasts, make calls and use Meta AI through voice commands.

The move comes as smart glasses face growing privacy concerns over recording people without their consent.

Meta VR Glasses Arrive in 2027

Meta also introduced Meta VR Glasses. The device weighs about 100 grams and uses a two-part design. The glasses connect to a separate computing and battery puck.

The glasses have 5K micro-OLED displays and support Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Meta says they can provide a private multi-screen workspace, gaming and an IMAX Enhanced viewing experience.

The device also supports hologram calls. It can create a digital version of the wearer that appears during video calls.

Meta VR Glasses will go on sale in spring 2027 for $1,299.99.

Meta has also announced a hearing enhancement feature for compatible AI glasses. The FDA-authorised software is designed for adults with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss. Meta says users can set it up at home without a clinic visit or prescription. The feature will launch in the US later this year for $149.99 or through a Meta One subscription.

Meta also expanded availability of its Ray-Ban Meta Display glasses. The glasses now support online ordering in the US, UK and Canada, with France, Italy and Germany also receiving availability in stages. New features include hands-free navigation and personalised hologram calls.
