Pakistani Teenager Invents Anti Sleep Glasses for Drivers, Gets Invited by NASA

Driving while drowsy can be deadly. It can impair one’s ability to react, judge, and stay awake on the road. According to the World Health Organization, fatigue-related accidents account for a significant number of road traffic incidents globally. But a 13-year-old Pakistani student has come up with a solution to this problem. Bisma Salangi, from Karachi’s Evergreen Secondary School, invented a pair of glasses that can prevent drivers from falling asleep behind the wheel.

Her invention has earned her recognition and an invitation from NASA. The glasses work by detecting the eye movements of the driver and alerting them if they are about to nod off. The glasses also have a built-in GPS system that can guide the driver to the nearest rest area or hospital in case of an emergency.

Bisma Salangi said she was inspired by her father, who is a driver himself. She wanted to help him and other drivers stay safe on the road. She also said she was passionate about science and technology and hoped to create more devices that can benefit society.

Her invention has not only showcased her talent and creativity but also highlighted the potential and achievements of Pakistani students. She said she was proud to represent her country and hoped to inspire other young people to pursue their dreams.

NASA has invited Bisma Salangi to their camp, where she will have the opportunity to learn from experts, develop her skills, and collaborate with other inventors. She said she was excited and grateful for this chance and looked forward to making Pakistan proud.
