Arshad Nadeem Fails to Win Medal in Asian Games Javelin Final

Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem finished fourth in the men’s javelin throw final at the 2026 Asian Games after recording a best throw of 80.29 meters.

Nadeem opened the competition with a 76.69-metre throw. His second attempt was ruled invalid. He improved to 80.29 meters in the third round.

His fourth, fifth and sixth attempts were also ruled invalid. He therefore recorded only two valid throws from six attempts.

The Winners

• Sri Lanka’s Ramesh Pathirage won the gold medal with an 88.55-metre throw.
• India’s Yashvir Singh took silver with 85.14 meters.
• India’s Rohit Yadav won bronze with 84.35 meters.

Muhammad Yasir Finishes Ninth

Pakistan’s Muhammad Yasir also competed in the 14-athlete final. He finished ninth with a best throw of 73.50 meters.

Nadeem’s fourth-place finish follows his ninth-place result at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. He recorded 77.41 meters there. His second-round throw was his only valid attempt.

At the Paris 2024 Olympics, Nadeem won Pakistan’s first individual Olympic gold medal in athletics. He also set an Olympic record with a 92.97-metre throw.
