The Pakistan Super League marks a new era in Lahore today. This will be the first time in a high-stakes player auction instead of a regular draft. This change redefines the way teams construct their rosters in the next Season 11, which begins this March.
The PSL auction officially kicked off today at the Lahore Expo Centre. Eight franchises are currently bidding for talent from a massive PSL auction list featuring 880 registered players. This transition to an auction model brings Pakistan’s premier T20 league in line with global cricket standards.
Both teams have a rigid budget of 505 million rupees each. Such purse will have to pay off the whole squad including past retentions and high cost-direct signings. Managers are scanning their books and they are also aiming at marquee names to position their lineups. The competitive bidding denotes the increased financial strength and transparency of the league.
PSL Season 11 expands the number of franchises in the tournament to eight. With the entry of Sialkot Stallionz and Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen, the need to hunt down local talent has gotten stiff. In addition, the previous Multan Sultans franchise has moved and the rebranded his franchise as the Rawalpindi side under new ownership.
Teams need to settle on a squad of 16 to 20 players. There are also rules that require at least two Under-23 players to make sure that the youth are developed. Also, franchises are allowed to recruit up to four foreign stars in their starting line-up. The news of PSL player auction 2026 is being observed keenly by fans to find which star players are going to feature in these new units.
