Imran Khan’s World Cup Legacy Still Looms Large Over Pakistan Cricket

PCB Pays Tribute to Imran Khan for Outstanding 1987 World Cup Performance Ahead of World Cup 2023

In a heartfelt tribute, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) honored former cricket team captain Imran Khan for his remarkable performance during the 1987 World Cup. He is now the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and a prominent figure in politics for over two decades, is being celebrated as the 2023 ICC Men’s World Cup approaches, set to kick off next month in India.

Taking to their social media platform, the PCB shared a post that took cricket enthusiasts on a nostalgic journey. They highlighted Imran Khan’s stellar performance in the 1987 World Cup, stating, “With 17 wickets in six innings at an average of 13.05, He was the second-leading wicket-taker of the 1987 World Cup.”

However, it’s worth noting that Imran Khan is currently detained at the Attock Jail on judicial remand due to his involvement in the cipher case, following the suspension of his sentence in the Toshakhana case by the Islamabad High Court. Despite these legal proceedings, his cricketing legacy continues to be celebrated as Pakistan gears up for another exciting World Cup campaign in 2023.
