Is Mohammad Amir participating in IPL 2024?

Former Pakistan fast bowler, Mohammad Amir, has responded to recent media speculation surrounding his alleged acquisition of a British passport and potential participation in the prestigious Indian Premier League (IPL).

During a media interaction, the left-arm pacer clarified that he has no intention of representing England in the future, as he has already played for the Pakistan national team. Amir firmly dismissed any rumors suggesting a switch in his international allegiance.

Regarding his possible involvement in the IPL, Amir emphasized that the next edition of the league is still a year away, and he will assess the situation when the time comes.

“I always approach things step by step. As we cannot predict the future, I won’t start contemplating playing in the IPL in 2024,” said Amir.

However, the 31-year-old cricketer did mention that if he does acquire a British passport, he will seize any favorable opportunities that come his way, in order to enhance his career prospects.

It is worth noting that Mohammad Amir has been selected by the Durban Qalandars for the forthcoming inaugural edition of the Zim Afro T10 tournament.

Earlier this year, certain media outlets reported that an official from the PCB Selection Committee had approached Amir, urging him to prepare for a potential comeback in the national team.

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) later clarified that no such contact had been made with the left-arm pacer, and the reports were deemed “factually incorrect.”
