Pakistan Reaches Asian Games Semi-Finals After Rain Washes Out Hong Kong Quarter-Final

Pakistan reached the Asian Games 2026 men’s cricket semi-finals after rain washed out their quarter-final against Hong Kong without a ball being bowled in Nisshin, Japan, on September 28.

Persistent rain made play impossible at Korogi Sports Park. The match was abandoned before the toss.

Pakistan advanced under the tournament playing conditions because it held the higher ICC T20I ranking. Pakistan had entered the quarter-finals directly as one of the four highest-ranked teams. Hong Kong reached the last eight after finishing second in Group B.

Pakistan Through to Last Four

The washout ended Hong Kong’s campaign without the team getting an opportunity to play Pakistan in the quarter-final.

Pakistan will face the winner of the quarter-final between Bangladesh and Malaysia. That match is scheduled for September 29.

The semi-finals will be played on October 1 at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. The bronze-medal and gold-medal matches are scheduled for October 3.

Pakistan are being led by Sahibzada Farhan at the Asian Games. The team had entered the knockout stage directly because of its ICC ranking.
