It seems that the schedule of the upcoming ODI series between Pakistan and New Zealand may undergo further changes, as there is a proposal being discussed to move one of the ODIs from Karachi to Rawalpindi.
As per the current schedule, the New Zealand cricket team is scheduled to land in Lahore and participate in three T20Is from 14th to 17th April, followed by a trip to Rawalpindi for the last two T20Is and the first ODI from 20th to 26th April. The tour is planned to conclude in Karachi, with the remaining four ODIs set to take place from 30th April to 7th May.
There is a new development in the Pakistan vs New Zealand ODI series, as Karachi might lose one of its scheduled matches. This would result in only three ODIs taking place in Karachi, while Rawalpindi could potentially host two ODIs at the beginning of the series.
Recently, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and New Zealand Cricket reached a consensus to modify the New Zealand men’s cricket team’s tour of Pakistan, which was scheduled to feature five ODIs and five T20Is. The changes were deemed necessary due to the upcoming elections in Punjab, and the two cricket boards agreed to make the required adjustments to the tour itinerary.
The upcoming tour by the New Zealand cricket team is an additional fixture, and the matches played during the series will contribute to the ICC Team Rankings. The scheduled ODIs will provide valuable preparation for the Pakistan team ahead of the ACC Asia Cup and ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. Similarly, the T20Is will aid the PCB’s rebuilding efforts for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which is set to take place in the USA and West Indies in June/July 2024.
