Imran Khan’s Triumph Excluded from PCB’s Celebratory Video

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) finds itself amidst a storm of criticism as social media buzzes with disappointment from cricket aficionados worldwide. The PCB’s recent video commemorating historical cricket accomplishments and cherished moments has come under fire for excluding the iconic figure of Imran Khan, the captain of the victorious 1992 World Cup team and the Chairman of PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) party.

Marking the occasion of Independence Day, PCB shared a video montage on the ‘X’ social platform, spotlighting cricket’s transformative events from 1952 to the present day. However, the absence of Imran Khan, a celebrated cricket legend and influential political leader, due to his previous role as Prime Minister, has resonated negatively among cricket enthusiasts not only in Pakistan and India but also globally. The spokesperson for PCB declined to provide any comment on this developing issue.

The video encapsulates remarkable cricket landmarks, featuring Javed Miandad’s historic six in 1986, the euphoric 1992 World Cup victory, the memorable Asia Cup triumphs in 2000 and 2012, the glory of the 2009 T20 World Cup, and the ongoing success of current captain Babar Azam. However, the most glaring omission is the absence of any reference to Imran Khan, whose captaincy led Pakistan to its maiden World Cup triumph.

As viewers delve into the video, they encounter a series of nine images, each pertinent to the matter at hand. These images showcase jubilant celebrations and trophy presentations involving various players, including the disgraced Salman Butt, who was implicated in match-fixing scandals. Interestingly, the video’s thumbnail prominently features Imran Khan alongside his teammates, gripping the trophy in celebration. Imran Khan’s illustrious cricket career spanned 88 Tests and 175 One-Day Internationals, where he achieved batting and bowling averages of 37 and 22, respectively. Notably, his all-round prowess secured him the pinnacle position among star all-rounders.
