The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has approved a daily allowance of $115 to players of the national hockey team in the run-up to the FIH Pro League 2026. The move is to help end a series of financial wrangles in the past and the squad can now concentrate on their next high-tension international matches against Australia and Germany in February this year.
PSB Approves $115 Daily Allowance for Pakistan Hockey Team
The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) is taking decisive action to support the national squad. PSB Director General Muhammad Yasir Pirzada announced on Thursday that each player will receive a daily allowance of $115. To avoid any financial hurdles during the international tour, the board instructed the Finance Department to release all payments before the team’s departure.
Budget Reallocation for FIH Pro League 2026
This increase of daily allowance by $115 is in line with the new government-approved Sports Board budget. Although the company is faced with its financial limitations currently, the PSB has been able to finance this through re-allocating savings by various budget heads. This is a strategic action that will see the Pakistan hockey team getting improved facilities in the second phase of the FIH Pro League 2026. Professional support in terms of finance is currently one of the most important issues in the governance of sports nationally.
National team captain Imad Butt officially welcomed the announcement. He thanked the PSB Director General for personally resolving the players’ financial concerns. According to Butt, the previously discussed issues have finally reached a positive outcome. He stated that the new rate approved under the current Sports Board budget is reasonable. Most importantly, the resolution of the daily allowance issue allows the team to focus entirely on their performance.
