PCB Decides Central Contracts for U19 Players for First Time

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has decided to award central contracts to Pakistan Under-19 players for the first time after their strong performance on the England tour.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met the Pakistan U19 squad and congratulated the young cricketers on their performance in England. The board also decided to introduce central contracts for U19 players for the first time.

Pakistan U19 recently completed a 3-1 ODI series win over England U19. The team won the first ODI by 177 runs and the fourth by 200 runs. Captain Farhan Yousaf scored 115 in the first match and an unbeaten 80 in the fourth.

PCB Chairman Encourages Young Players

Head coach Shahid Anwar said Naqvi invited the players after their England performances. He met the players individually and praised their efforts.

Naqvi said central contracts would encourage young cricketers to perform better. He said rewarding good performances would also increase their confidence.

Players Welcome Central Contracts

Captain Farhan Yousaf said the U19 development camps in Multan over the past two years had helped the players. He said the results of those camps were visible in their recent performances.

Farhan said meeting the PCB chairman and receiving central contracts for the first time was encouraging for the squad.

Aliyan Salman said the contracts would increase players’ confidence and motivation. He added that the support would allow young cricketers to focus more on cricket.

Jahangir Bilal said the contracts would also help young players support their families financially.

Rizwanullah thanked Naqvi and the PCB. He said the announcement of prizes and central contracts was a major source of encouragement for young cricketers.

The PCB has invested in U19 development through skills camps. A 31-player camp was held in Multan ahead of the England tour.
