Rizwan Scores Double Century for Peshawar in Domestic Comeback

Mohammad Rizwan answered his critics with the bat on Wednesday. The wicketkeeper-batter scored an unbeaten double century for Peshawar Blues against Faisalabad on day two of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Gold.

Rizwan finished on 200 not out off 252 balls, with 35 fours and one six. His innings helped Peshawar declare at 503 for 4.

Rizwan walked in with Peshawar struggling at 127 for 3. He then built a 179-run stand with Najab Khan, who scored 133. Mohammad Haris added an unbeaten 70 to push the total past 500.

This was Rizwan’s second double century in first-class cricket. His first came in 2014, when he scored 224. It is also his 16th first-class century overall.

Rizwan was one of seven players sent home after the second Test at Lord’s during Pakistan’s tour of England. He is still under investigation by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) over matters linked to the tour, including alleged dressing-room leaks.

The Lahore High Court had earlier directed the NCCIA not to harass Rizwan, while telling him to cooperate with the inquiry. The Pakistan Cricket Board then cleared him to return to domestic cricket.
