Ronaldo-less Portugal Beat Denmark 4-2 as Klopp Gets First Germany Win

Portugal extended their perfect Nations League start with a 4-2 win over Denmark, while Jürgen Klopp finally secured his first victory as Germany coach with a 2-0 win over Serbia.

Portugal beat Denmark 4-2 in Copenhagen despite the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the national camp before the match.

João Cancelo gave Portugal the lead in the 13th minute. Mikkel Damsgaard equalized for Denmark before Gonçalo Ramos restored Portugal’s lead in the 25th minute.

Rasmus Højlund levelled the score again after the break. Portugal then took control as Vitinha scored in the 67th minute. João Félix added a fourth goal late in the match.

The result gave Portugal three wins from three in Nations League Group A4. They now hold a six-point lead at the top of the group.

Ronaldo’s absence came after he stayed on the bench during Portugal’s previous win over Norway. He then left the squad, putting his international future into question.

Portugal coach Jorge Jesus praised his team’s performance after the victory.

Klopp Gets First Germany Win

Germany defeated Serbia 2-0 in Munich to give Klopp his first win in three matches since taking charge.

Klopp made several changes after Germany’s previous defeat to Greece. Goalkeeper Jonas Urbig and winger Derry Scherhant made their international debuts.

Tom Bischof opened the scoring in the 39th minute. Florian Wirtz doubled Germany’s lead in the 61st minute with a finish from the edge of the box.

Klopp said the performance showed the level he wants from Germany and should become the team’s baseline.

Elsewhere, the Netherlands came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Greece. Wales beat 10-man Norway 2-1, while Ireland drew 2-2 with Austria after a brief interruption caused by tennis balls thrown onto the pitch in protest.
