In a startling turn of events, an Indian restaurant manager has been apprehended following an incident involving dry ice being served as a mouth freshener, leading to severe health repercussions for the diners.
A group of five patrons began to experience symptoms of vomiting and bleeding from the mouth after consuming a traditional post-meal mix of sugar and spices. The police have confirmed that the packet handed out to the customers contained dry ice, a solid form of carbon dioxide typically used for cooling purposes.
The severity of the situation escalated quickly, with all affected customers requiring immediate hospitalization. The incident took place in Gurugram, where local law enforcement arrested the restaurant manager on charges of intentional poisoning.
The restaurant owner, currently evading authorities, also sought in connection with the incident. Among the victims was Ankit Kumar, a resident of Greater Noida, who had visited the restaurant with his wife and friends.
The group offered a packet of mouth freshener after their meal. Upon consumption, they experienced a burning sensation in their mouths, followed by bleeding and vomiting. A video circulating on social media shows the distressed customers attempting to alleviate their discomfort by placing ice in their mouths and drinking water.
The customers have complained to the restaurant staff, accusing them of failing to assist with the ordeal. A subsequent examination by a medical professional confirmed the presence of dry ice in the mouth freshener packet.
