Eid ul Fitr 2024: UAE Announces 9-Day Holiday from April 6 to 14

Eid-ul Fitr, one of Islam’s most significant festivals, is eagerly anticipated after a month of fasting. This year, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is set to revel in an extended nine-day holiday, starting from April 8.

The festival, marking the start of Shawwal, the 10th Islamic month, follows the holy month of Ramadan, which lasts 29 or 30 days based on moon sightings. The residents of the UAE set to enjoy this key event without the need for annual leave applications.

The duration of the Eid 2024 holidays hinges on the length of Ramadan. If Ramadan spans 30 days, the holidays will extend from April 8 to April 12, encapsulating two weekends. However, if Ramadan lasts 29 days, the break will stretch from April 8 to April 11, ensuring a total of nine days off, including weekends.

The Eid-ul Fitr break, lasting five days, conveniently begins after a weekend and concludes before the following weekend. This arrangement allows UAE residents to enjoy a continuous nine-day break from work, from April 6 to April 14. This extended holiday period is a testament to the significance of Eid-ul Fitr in the UAE and offers residents ample time to celebrate and reflect.
