Funeral Prayer for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Held at Imam Ali Shrine in Najaf, Procession Moves to Karbala

Funeral prayers for Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and his family members were held at the Imam Ali Shrine in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq.

Many of the mourners were present when the funeral prayer was recited before the funeral began its march towards Karbala. According to reports, millions of people are expected to participate in the procession.

The family members of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei have been already taken to the Imam Hussain Shrine in Karbala where mourners were in attendance to pay their last respect to the martyr’s relatives.

The bodies were flown from Qom, Iran, to Iraq last night following a funeral which took place in Qom one day earlier.

The announced plan is for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the other deceased family members to be buried tomorrow in Mashhad, the city of the Imam Reza Shrine, where they were born.

The funeral ceremonies have drawn large crowds from different parts of the region as people continue to gather for the final farewell.
