Iran Nuclear Deal Update: Tehran Says No Signing Until All Issues Are Resolved

TEHRAN: Hopes for a breakthrough in the ongoing Iran-US nuclear talks remain uncertain after Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that discussing the signing of a deal is meaningless until all outstanding issues are fully resolved.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei stated that much had achieved in the talks, but several points yet to be settle because of “changing and inconsistent positions” taken by the U.S.

In a recent interview, Baghaei pointed out that numerous aspects of the proposed Iran nuclear deal have already hammered out. However, he claimed that new demands and contradictory stances from Washington have complicated efforts to reach a final settlement.

The latest comments are part of renewed diplomatic focus on the future of the Iran nuclear accord, which seen as key for regional stability, world energy supplies and ties between Tehran and Washington. Baghaei said any speculation on when or where a signing ceremony may take place unfounded.

“Until all parts of the agreement finalized and approve by the relevant authorities, there is no point in discussing when or where it will sign,” he said.

Baghaei also credited Qatar and Pakistan for their mediation efforts, which have reportedly helped facilitate dialogue between the two sides. He said, however, that some U.S. actions have undermined the negotiation process.

Despite international pressure, Iran has reiterated that it will not budge from its fundamental commitments or “red lines. Tehran insists any deal must be in the country’s best interests and must have provisions on sanctions relief.

The developments come as a reminder of the ongoing challenges between Tehran and Washington as both sides try to close remaining gaps in their negotiations. If the deal is successful, analysts say it will help defuse tensions in the Middle East, boost economic prospects in Iran and affect global oil markets.
