Kuwait and Pakistan Sign ‘Protocol Agreement-2026’ to Expand Military Ties

Pakistan and Kuwait signed the “Protocol Agreement-2026” on Thursday to significantly expand their existing bilateral military cooperation framework.

Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Kuwaiti Defense Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Saleem Al-Sabah signed the pact in Rawalpindi on Thursay. The new protocol builds directly upon the foundational “Defense Cooperation Agreement-2023.”

Under the terms of the 2026 agreement, the Pakistan Armed Forces will assist Kuwait’s military in key areas. These fields include specialized training, institutional capacity building, border management and other mutually agreed-upon areas of defense collaboration.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both defense ministers reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace, mutual security, and strengthening long-standing bilateral ties.

High-Level GHQ Meeting

The visiting Kuwaiti delegation, which included Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Khalid Darj Saad Al-Shriaan, also met with Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ), according to ISPR.

Discussions during the GHQ meeting centered on regional security, mutual interests, and expanding institutional defense collaboration. The Kuwaiti delegation praised the professionalism and operational excellence of the Pakistan Armed Forces and their ongoing contributions to regional stability, said ISPR.

This enhanced defense pact follows closely on the heels of the recent “Makkah Joint Defense Agreement” signed by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey earlier this month.
