Saudi Arabia Iftar Guidelines – In preparation for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, Saudi Arabia has introduced a directive restricting the observance of Iftar meals within mosque premises. The Ministry of Islamic Affairs issued a notice last week, emphasizing the importance of maintaining cleanliness during this sacred period.
According to the guidelines, Iftar projects are now prohibited inside mosques, prompting mosque officials to arrange suitable locations within the courtyards for these communal meals. The directive explicitly bans the creation of temporary structures, such as rooms or tents, for Iftar purposes. Additionally, mosque leaders are instructed not to solicit financial donations for Iftar projects targeting fasting individuals.
In an effort to further regulate activities within mosque premises, the use of cameras and photography is discouraged, and the broadcasting of prayers on any form of media, including online platforms, is strictly prohibited.
These measures aim to ensure a serene and hygienic environment for worshippers during Ramadan, which is expected to begin on March 10-11 and conclude on April 9-10 in Saudi Arabia this year. The Ministry of Islamic Affairs emphasizes its commitment to upholding the sanctity of this sacred month while promoting a sense of communal responsibility among the faithful.
