The US visa services in Pakistan will officially resume from July 20, 2026, as the United States Embassy in Pakistan announced the restoration of routine consular operations at its missions in Lahore and Karachi.
According to an official statement, the US Consulate General in Lahore will restart US Citizen Services, while the US Consulate General in Karachi will resume both US Citizen Services and non-immigrant visa processing from July 20, 2026.
With the resumption of visa services in Pakistan, thousands of visa seekers are expected to get the relief they are seeking due to normal working of US Consulates in Pakistan. Residents of Punjab and Sindh will again be able to avail visa related services and consular assistance without moving to any other US Embassy in the country.
The U.S. Embassy has urged Pakistani candidates for non-immigrant visas and U.S. citizens seeking Consular Services to go to its official website to find up-to-date information on appointment availability, eligibility, necessary documentation and services.
The embassy did not reveal why service at the consulates was previously suspended, but it noted that the two consulates will resume operations on July 20, 2026.
Candidates should read the updated guidelines before making an appointment to make sure they have all the required documents and are eligible for the appointment. The US consulate’s re-opening in Lahore and Karachi will improve the availability of visa services to Pakistanis and ease the inconveniences faced by visa applicants in Pakistan.
