Former U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran has been brought “to its knees” and is close to collapse, while sharply criticizing a congressional resolution aimed at limiting military action against Tehran.
Speaking about the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran, Trump said that lawmakers were making his job more difficult by supporting a resolution calling for an end to military involvement. He described the measure as “untimely and meaningless.”
“I have brought Iran to its knees. They are about to fall,” Trump stated, adding that despite political obstacles, he would complete the task. “The senators have made my work harder, but I will get it done one way or another. I always get the job done,” he said.
The remarks came after the U.S. Senate approved a joint resolution seeking to prevent further military action against Iran. The measure passed by a narrow margin, receiving 50 votes in favor and 48 against.
The resolution had already been approved by the House of Representatives earlier this month, reflecting growing concerns among lawmakers about the possibility of escalating conflict between Washington and Tehran.
The debate over U.S. policy toward Iran continues to divide American politicians, with supporters of the resolution arguing that Congress should have a greater role in authorizing military action. Opponents, however, believe stronger measures are necessary to address security concerns and counter Iran’s regional influence.
Trump’s comments have once again placed the spotlight on U.S.-Iran relations, a key issue in American foreign policy that continues to attract global attention.
