Vietnam Government Launches New E-Visa System to Enhance Tourism Experience

In a significant move aimed at boosting its tourism sector, the Vietnamese government has introduced an electronic visa (e-visa) system for all foreign travelers. This exciting initiative comes as part of the government’s efforts to facilitate smoother entry for visitors and promote tourism across the nation. Effective from August 15, the new regulations offer a streamlined process for obtaining visas upon arrival at 52 designated entry points.

Previously, Vietnam had granted 30-day single-entry e-visas exclusively to citizens from 80 specific countries. However, with the latest expansion, this convenient e-visa facility is now available to travelers from all around the world. The updated policy is set to make Vietnam an even more attractive destination for international tourists.

Under the fresh e-visa guidelines, the Vietnam Immigration Department will implement a user-friendly electronic payment system. This innovative approach allows foreign arrivals to secure multiple entries within a generous 90-day timeframe. This flexibility ensures that visitors can explore various regions of Vietnam without the hassle of frequent visa reapplications.

The list of eligible entry points encompasses 13 airports, including prominent ones such as Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport, Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang Airport. Additionally, the e-visa option extended to 16 land border gates and 13 seaports, a measure aimed at facilitating travelers’ convenience and enriching their experience in the country.

In a concurrent development, the Vietnamese government has also introduced a resolution that extends the visa exemption duration for citizens of specific countries. Tourists hailing from Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Belarus now permitted to stay in Vietnam for a remarkable 45 days upon entry. This noteworthy extension supersedes the previous 15-day limit, providing travelers with more time to immerse themselves in the country’s unique culture and attractions.

The extension applies universally, regardless of the visitor’s passport type or the purpose of their trip, as long as they adhere to the entry requirements outlined by Vietnamese law. This change anticipated to enhance Vietnam’s appeal as a top travel destination for individuals seeking a captivating and culturally rich experience.

Vietnam has consistently demonstrated its allure to tourists, a fact supported by statistical data. According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, May 2022 witnessed a staggering increase in international visitors to the country, with a recorded total of 172.9 thousand—an impressive surge of 70.6% compared to the previous month and a remarkable 12.8-fold increase from the same period the previous year.

This Southeast Asian gem renowned for its stunning landscapes, encompassing majestic mountains, lush jungles, and pristine beaches. One of the must-visit destinations in Vietnam is the vibrant city of Hanoi. Here, visitors can explore golden temples, serene Buddha shrines, and historic monasteries, all set against a backdrop of bustling markets, lively streets, and impressive skyscrapers.

With the introduction of the new e-visa system and extended visa exemptions, Vietnam poised to captivate an even larger global audience, offering unforgettable experiences and memories to cherish for a lifetime.
