In light of the impending weather conditions, all schools in Balochistan will remain closed today and tomorrow. This decision comes as Pakistan braces for a series of rainstorms, starting with a light drizzle in Karachi today.
The Meteorological Department has identified a system of western winds currently in Balochistan, which is set to bring a second wave of heavy rain to Karachi on April 17. This weather system is not limited to Karachi, with forecasts predicting more rain in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan.
The weather conditions have already escalated in Lower Dir, where heavy rains have caused a high-level flood in the River Panjkora. The ongoing series of rain, punctuated by thunder and lightning, continues to affect Quetta and various other cities. Today, 16 districts in Balochistan are also expected to experience rainfall.
Post-rain water accumulation on various roads in Quetta has disrupted the sewage system, causing difficulties for the citizens. In response to the situation, the Chief Minister of Balochistan has taken notice and issued directives for immediate actions.
