Karachi: Surjani Murder Suspect Killed in Alleged Police Encounter

The suspect allegedly involved in the murder of a woman and three children was killed in an alleged police encounter in Karachi’s Surjani Town.

SSP West Tariq Elahi Mastoi said police had taken the suspect to recover the weapon used in the killings. During the search, the suspect allegedly snatched a police officer’s pistol and opened fire while attempting to escape.

According to the SSP, the suspect fired indiscriminately with the stolen pistol. ASI Noman Sheikh sustained injuries during the exchange of fire.

Police returned fire and killed the suspect at the scene.

Who Was the Suspect?

The deceased was identified as Muhammad Humayun Khan, son of Hassan Khan. Police recovered the snatched pistol from the scene. The body was shifted to a hospital for legal proceedings.

The suspect was the brother-in-law of the husband of the victim. Police had earlier linked him to the killing of the woman and her three children in Surjani Town.

The DIG further alleged that the suspect attempted to rape the woman. He said she resisted, after which the suspect attacked her with a rod and used a crowbar to kill her.

Police said further legal proceedings are underway.
