Sindh Government Bans Speeches and Travel of 143 Ulema and Zakireen During Muharram

The Sindh government has enforced a ban on the speeches and travel of 143 religious scholars and speakers. This decision comes as a preventive measure to maintain harmony across the region.

The Sindh Home Department issued a notification, putting this ban into immediate effect. It will last for the next 60 days. The decision to impose these restrictions was made following recommendations from the Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police. The aim is to curb any potential unrest during the significant religious period of Muharram.

The ban impacts scholars and speakers across 13 districts in Sindh. The Home Department stressed that the main goal is to maintain peace and stability during a time that holds great importance for many. They believe that by limiting the movement and speeches of these individuals, they can prevent any actions that might disturb public order.

Muharram, a sacred month in the Islamic calendar, often sees heightened religious activities and gatherings. The government’s decision to impose these restrictions is seen as a step towards avoiding any conflicts or disturbances that could arise during this period.

The Sindh government is focused on ensuring a peaceful Muharram for everyone in the region. By enforcing this ban, they hope to safeguard the community and uphold public order during this significant time.
