Karachi police arrested two suspects after 59 women were allegedly deprived of their mobile phones at a fake job fair in Gadap. Police are searching for the alleged organizer of the event.
Two suspects have been arrested in the investigation into a fake job fair held at a farmhouse in Karachi’s Gadap area, police said on Thursday.
The incident took place on September 30 at Ansari Meadows Farmhouse near Baqai Medical College.
According to Gadap police, 59 women were brought to the farmhouse for interviews for jobs allegedly linked to Bahria Town Karachi. The women were told that builders and officials would conduct the interviews.
The women were then asked to hand over their mobile phones at a guarded counter outside the interview area. Police said the reason given was to prevent disturbance during the interviews.
The alleged organizer, identified by police as Sahil Salman, later took the phones and left the farmhouse.
Two Suspects Arrested
Police said Waqas had booked the farmhouse for the event. Nargis allegedly worked as its coordinator.
Both Waqas and Nargis have been arrested as part of the investigation.
Police registered a case after the affected women approached authorities. Raids are under way to arrest Sahil Salman and recover the mobile phones, according to police.
The women were reportedly brought to the farmhouse in two buses from different parts of Karachi.
Police have not confirmed the recovery of the phones or the total value of the stolen devices.
The case remains under investigation.
