The Punjab government is expanding its free bike initiative to help students access education more easily and reduce financial strain. This program, overseen by Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan, has increased the number of free bikes from 20,000 to 27,200. This expansion means more students will now benefit from this transportation solution.
During a recent meeting, Minister Khan urged officials to speed up the delivery of free bikes, particularly to orphan students, as directed by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. This initiative is designed to improve mobility and educational opportunities for these students.
The minister highlighted that the bike scheme’s installment plan has been kept minimal to ease the financial burden on students. Additionally, the Punjab government is covering half of the advance payment to make the process smoother.
Furthermore, women applying for electric bikes will also receive bikes, following the Chief Minister’s announcement. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to supporting students and promoting gender equality in transportation access.
