Pakistan Meteorological Department’s forecast of severe weather conditions, the Sindh Livestock and Fisheries Department has issued a crucial advisory for fishermen. Syed Najmi Alam, Advisor to the Sindh Chief Minister on Livestock and Fisheries, has instructed that all fishing activities be suspended until August 30. This directive comes following a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House, led by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, focusing on the imminent rain emergency.
The advisory emphasizes the risk of heavy rains and rough sea conditions due to low air pressure affecting the Arabian Sea. The department has alerted that Sindh’s coastal areas, in particular, are expected to experience significant rainfall from August 26 to August 30, 2024. High tides and adverse weather may pose a threat to maritime safety.
Fishermen are advised to secure their boats, engines, and fishing gear and to remain in safe locations during this period. The precautionary measures aim to ensure their safety and prevent potential damage.
