2023 Honda City Facelift Unveiled in Malaysia with Enhanced Design and Features

Honda enthusiasts in Malaysia can now rejoice as the much-awaited 2023 Honda City Facelift has been officially launched in the country. This marks the latest release of the 7th generation Honda City facelift, boasting a refreshed design language and upgraded features. Notably, the Malaysian version stands out with its enhanced design elements and equipment improvements compared to the facelift released in other regions.

Elevated Dimensions

The updated City model showcases subtle yet impactful changes in its exterior. One of the notable changes is its increased overall length when compared to its predecessor prior to the facelift. Standard variants now measure at 4,580 mm in length, an extension of 27 mm, while the RS models have grown even more to 4,589 mm, gaining an extra 36 mm. However, other dimensions such as width (1,748 mm), height (1,467 mm), and wheelbase (2,600 mm) have been retained. This translates to unchanged boot capacities for non-RS models at 519 litres, while the hybrid version offers 410 litres.

Variants for All Tastes

The newly launched City Facelift comes in a range of variants to cater to different preferences. Non-hybrid choices include the S, E, V, and a fresh addition, the RS model. On the other hand, those inclined towards a hybrid option can opt for the e: HEV RS. Honda is also offering a comprehensive warranty package, with a 5-year/unlimited mileage warranty and up to five instances of free labor service within 5 years or 100,000 km. The hybrid model takes it up a notch with an 8-year/unlimited mileage battery warranty.

Stylish Design Tweaks

The RS model of the facelift boasts elegant design enhancements. The chrome bar on the front grille is now coated in sophisticated black, while the grille itself features a honeycomb mesh insert. The lower intake design showcases a diamond-patterned mesh framed by additional trim that emulates air inlets. The RS model also flaunts a rear diffuser-like element, a boot spoiler, side skirts, and subtly updated ‘RS’ badges.

Interior Comfort and Tech

While the exterior showcases significant changes, the interior retains its familiar appeal with an unchanged dashboard design. Upgrades include an 8-inch infotainment unit, enhanced colored illumination for the automatic air conditioning, a USB port, and an improved multi-angle rearview camera with a fresh interface.

Unchanged Powertrain

Under the hood, the powertrain remains consistent with the previous iteration. The S, E, V, and RS variants are all equipped with the same 1.5L naturally-aspirated inline-four cylinder i-VTEC engine that delivers 120 hp of power and 145 Nm of peak torque. A CVT gearbox transfers power to the front wheels. The hybrid e: HEV RS variant retains its Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) powertrain, which consists of a 1.5L naturally-aspirated engine, two electric motors, a lithium-ion battery pack, and an e-CVT gearbox. The hybrid model maintains a power output of 109 hp and 253 Nm.

With the launch of the 2023 Honda City Facelift in Malaysia, Honda continues to raise the bar in the automotive industry by combining style, innovation, and safety in one impressive package.
