Banks Closed Across Pakistan on July 1, 2026 as SBP Announces Bank Holiday

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that all banks and financial institutions across Pakistan will remain closed on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, in observance of the annual Bank Holiday.

According to an official statement issued by the central bank, all commercial banks will remain closed for public dealings, meaning customers will not be able to carry out over-the-counter banking transactions on the day.

The announcement also applies to Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) and Microfinance Banks, which will remain closed for customer services during the bank holiday.

However, the SBP clarified that bank employees will report to work as usual and continue performing internal administrative and accounting functions. While staff will be present in offices, all public banking transactions will remain suspended throughout the day.

The annual bank holiday is observed at the beginning of the new financial year, allowing banks to complete year-end closing procedures and reconcile financial records.

Customers are advised to complete any important banking transactions before July 1 or use available digital banking services, including ATMs, mobile banking, and internet banking, where applicable.

Why Are Banks Closed on July 1?

The July 1 Bank Holiday is observed every year by banks across Pakistan to facilitate internal financial processes related to the start of the new fiscal year. During this period, branches remain closed to customers, although banking staff continue working behind the scenes.
