Mosques in Pakistan to Utilize as Educational Institutes for Children

In a groundbreaking initiative, President Dr. Arif Alvi has urged for a united effort with Masajid (mosques) to address the challenge of educating 28 million out-of-school children in Pakistan. Emphasizing the pivotal role that Masajid and Madaris (religious schools) can play, the President envisions these institutions as catalysts for promoting ethical values and creating awareness about crucial social and health issues at the grassroots level.

Chairing a follow-up meeting on Masajid and Madaris at Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Alvi emphasized the enormity of the task at hand, stating that educating millions of out-of-school children requires innovative and non-traditional solutions. He called for a collective societal commitment to overcoming this challenge, acknowledging the need for thousands of new schools and additional resources.

The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training reported the launch of an Accelerated Learning Program aimed at educating out-of-school children, showcasing the government’s commitment to addressing the education gap.

President Alvi highlighted the potential of Masajid and Madaris in reforming society by instilling ethical values, promoting brotherhood, tolerance, peace, inter-faith harmony, and respect for each other’s rights through Friday sermons. He proposed leveraging these platforms to raise awareness about mental and general health issues, population welfare, inter-faith harmony, women’s rights, and malnutrition at the community level.

Underscoring the importance of an integrated approach, President Alvi called for collaboration between the ministries of health, education, and religious affairs at both federal and provincial levels. He urged the involvement of Masajid and Madaris in educating the public about critical social and health issues, demonstrating a holistic strategy to address the multifaceted challenges faced by society.
