Students Allowed to Pursue Two Degrees Under New HEC Framework

The Higher Education Commission Pakistan has introduced a new policy framework that allows students to pursue dual, double, and joint degree programs under a more structured academic system aligned with international education standards.

The goal of the initiative is to promote worldwide academic cooperation, ensure access to quality education at international standard and intensify cooperation between local and foreign universities.

Key Highlights of the New Policy

The new plan will allow students to earn two degrees at the same time (under approved academic arrangements between the partner institutions). The policy also establishes dual and joint degree programs in a consistent and academically sound manner.

HEC has stated that the framework is design to:

• Facilitate structured partnerships between Pakistani and international universities
• Enhance student exchange and mobility programs
• Promote joint research and academic collaboration
• Align degree programs with global higher education standards
