Dwayne Johnson has traded his muscular action-hero appearance for the look of a 70-year-old man in his upcoming film Lizard Music. New set photos from Brooklyn show the actor wearing prosthetics as he plays an eccentric character known as the Chicken Man.
Johnson was spotted filming the movie on Tuesday, October 20, alongside young co-star Theo Clark Leber. The actor wore a tan bucket hat and coat, with gray hair and aged facial features created through prosthetic makeup. He held a slice of pizza while Leber carried an oversized lizard plush.

Makeup artist Kazu Hiro created Johnson’s new appearance. Hiro also worked on Tom Cruise’s transformation for the upcoming film Digger. Johnson previously underwent a major physical transformation to play mixed martial arts fighter Mark Kerr in Benny Safdie’s 2025 film The Smashing Machine.
Dwayne Johnson Lost 30 Pounds for the Role
Johnson revealed during a career retrospective at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival that he lost 30 pounds of muscle to play the Chicken Man. He also said Safdie needed only about 45 minutes to convince him to join the project.
Johnson described the role as another opportunity to transform himself for a character, joking that the change meant “eating less chicken.”
What Is ‘Lizard Music’ About?
Based on Daniel Pinkwater’s children’s book, Lizard Music follows a young boy who discovers a late-night television broadcast featuring musical lizards. His search for answers leads him to the Chicken Man, an eccentric older man who keeps an elderly chicken.
The cast includes Rachel McAdams, Colman Domingo, David Krumholtz, Jeff Goldblum, Alicia Silverstone and Regina Hall, alongside Johnson and Leber.
Amazon MGM Studios will release Lizard Music in theaters on December 25, 2027.
