Karan Johar Says Guests Now More Careful on Koffee With Karan

Filmmaker Karan Johar says guests on his show Koffee With Karan have become more careful about what they share. He blames past controversies for the change.

Johar, 54, is hosting the ninth and final season of the show. He told Variety India that guests now avoid personal talk, since one wrong line can turn into a big story.

Johar said the show’s tone has become milder over the years. In his words: “I know the steam has become lesser, the brew is much milder. That’s only because everyone’s worried.”

He explained that even a small comment from a guest can blow up into a controversy. This creates public relations problems that celebrities want to avoid.

Johar said the atmosphere around the show has changed a lot since it started. In the early days, only the production team stood near the stage. Now, publicists, managers, and image teams come along with guests to watch over their appearance.

He also said many guests ask to review their episode before it airs, so they can flag anything they are not comfortable with. Johar said he understands this and would do the same if he were a guest.
