Ayatollah Khamenei Funeral Schedule Announced, Burial to Take Place in Mashhad on July 9

TEHRAN: Iranian media has announced the official schedule for the funeral prayers, farewell ceremonies, and burial of Iran’s martyred Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

According to reports, farewell ceremonies for Ayatollah Khamenei will be held in Tehran on July 4 and July 5, where thousands of mourners are expected to gather to pay their final respects.

The funeral prayers for the late Iranian Supreme Leader are scheduled to take place in Tehran on July 6, followed by additional funeral ceremonies in the holy city of Qom on July 7.

Iranian media reported that Ayatollah Khamenei will be laid to rest in Mashhad on July 9. His burial will take place at the revered Imam Reza Shrine, one of the holiest sites in the Islamic world and a major destination for pilgrims.

Organizers have invited the Iranian public, members of the Muslim world, and supporters from across the globe to participate in the funeral events. Authorities stated that extensive arrangements have been completed to accommodate large crowds expected to attend the ceremonies.

Reports indicate that Ayatollah Khamenei was killed in a joint U.S.-Israeli attack on February 28. Following his death, Iran reportedly appointed his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, as the country’s new Supreme Leader.

Iranian media also claimed that several members of Ayatollah Khamenei’s family, including his daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter, were among those killed in the attack. According to the reports, the Supreme Leader was carrying out official duties in his office at the time of the incident.

The announcement of the funeral schedule has drawn significant attention across the Middle East, with many observers closely following developments surrounding Iran’s leadership transition and the upcoming memorial ceremonies.
