The Fatwa Council of the United Arab Emirates has officially announced the Fitrana 2026 and Fidya 2026 rates for the holy month of Ramadan. These guidelines are crucial for Muslims to fulfill their Zakat al-Fitr and fidya obligations correctly.
Fitrana 2026 Rates
According to the council, every eligible Muslim is required to pay Zakat al-Fitr, also known as Fitrana, before the Eid al-Fitr prayer. For Ramadan 2026, the rates are as follows:
- 2.5 kilograms of rice per person, or its cash equivalent of 25 AED.
The council emphasized that all able-bodied Muslims, both men and women, are obligated to pay Fitrana, which should be distributed to the needy during Ramadan or at the latest, before the Eid prayer.
Fidya 2026 Guidelines
For individuals unable to fast due to illness, pregnancy, or other valid reasons, the Fidya 2026 has been set at:
- 3.25 kilograms of wheat per day, or 20 AED per day.
- The same amount applies if the fidya is provided in the form of prepared meals.
Additionally, the council clarified penalties for deliberately breaking a fast:
- Deliberately breaking a fast: Fidya of 1,200 AED, to be distributed among 60 eligible recipients.
- Prohibited acts during Hajj or Umrah: Fidya of 120 AED, to be given to six needy individuals.
The council also set a minimum price of 20 AED for an Iftar meal, ensuring affordability for the general public.
How to Pay Fitrana and Fidya in the UAE
The Fatwa Council recommends that payments be made through official channels such as:
- Zakat funds

This ensures that Fitrana 2026 and Fidya 2026 reach the deserving recipients effectively.
